Dear friend Pete:

I am belatedly answering your good letter of February 14th
and regret that the publicity caused you any unpleasantness.

Some time when I am Wichita which I trust will not be fer
henes, I will drop in and have a good telk with youe I de not know
the Wichita angle; in fact, I imagine that I am about the poorest poli-
ticien in the world, but I do want to heve a talk with you because many

people in Wichita have stated to me thet you have taken a “crack” at
me every time the door was opeme Now I have never taken this grape-
vine rumor seriously, but I have hed many of my friends in ‘ichitea
come to me and say, “Pete Lightner sure pours it on to you every
chanee he gets." :

This hes not bothered me at all, Pete, and I assure you
that when you and I sit down and talk things over, we will find much
of this telk is like Merk Twain's death--greatly exaggerated.
