THE UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS AND SCIENCES LAWRENCE June 7, 1939 OFFICE OF THE DEAN Doctor F. C. Allen 801 Louisiana Lawrence, Kansas My dear Doctor Allen: Paul Moritz is going to China, a messenger of goodwill from the college students of America to the college students of China. If ever the young people of @ nation needed help these Chinese students do, and if ever a young man was qualified to give the needed help Paul is the lad. Paul hopes to attend the World Christian Youth Conference to be held at Amsterdam in August and then go on across Europe for a year in China under the auspices of the . International Committee of the Y.M.C.A. This will cost some hundreds of dollars for traveling expenses alone. In view of his wonderful scholastic record, his presidency of the Y.M.C.A, for the last two years, his all-round leadership both on this campus and among the Christian | young people of the nation, and because he is one of our own boys who commands our strongest admiration and love, I am writing to ask a few of my friends if they would be willing to send me five dollars to help pay this wonderful lad‘ts traveling expenses and enable him to give himself to the needy young people of China for a year. I know that you are tired of being asked for money, but I honestly do not believe you could invest five dollars in a better boy or a better cause. May I hear from you? Sincerely yours, (EF Mn Paul B, Lawson, Dean PBL/fb
