Dear Mr. Allen:

We are sorry to delay replying to your letter of
April 11 so long, but we apparently have the information which
was not available a day or two ago.

The No. A598, which we furnished you, is not the
official plate for softball. This was shown on the bid which
we submitted to the University, but perhaps this bid did not
come to your attention.

During the last year, this particuler plate, which we
have always carried as a home plate for softball, was declared
unofficial by the Softball Rules Committee. The only official
plate, which we have for softball, is our No. A198 or A197; also
our official plate for hardball. “We will be glad to accept the
return of these plates if you wish to exchange them for official
equipment. However, the price on the A198, the lower-priced
official plate, is $6.75. Will you please let us know whether
you intend to return these to us for exchange or not?
