November 27, 1943. Dr. H. H. Lane, Department of Zoology, University of Kansas. Dear Dr. Lane: Mr. I. B. Caven, of 123 EB. Beloit Strect, Salina, found a hardened toad. He says it is not a petrified toad but it is hardened and he kept it three months in formalde- hyde then poured it off. The toad is perfect in shape and structure and the skinn is like a turtle shell. Mr. Caven is in the mail service, and he dug this up in his garden, I believe. He states if you are interested if you will write him he will be glad to send it to you. Sincerely yours, Director of Physical Biucation, PCA:AH Varsity Basketball Coach.
