Dear Varsity Baseballer; .

I have been delighted at the enthusiasm shown by you and the rest
of the squad over the coming baseball season, Your regular attendance in
preparing yourself physically for the more strenuous days when you cavort on
the diamond is very pleasing to mes All the jobs are wide open and there
certainly is going to be some competition for places on this year's Varsitye

Do not forget your twelve push-ups night and morning on your
Yingers and toes. Physical fitness and the desire to battle courageously is
about 60% of any sport, whether it be football, basketball, track, or base=
ball. So letts get in tip-top physical shape, use the medicine ball, punch
the bag, skip the rope, play handball, and indulge in all these body=building ©
exercises, so tha t when we get out doors to circle those bases and to throw
that apple around in an intelligent and vigorous fashion, then there should be no
strained or pulled musclese

So keep up the good work, fight a good fight, keep training rules,
and Kansas will have a fighting baseball team that the students will be proud
of »

It will be typically a college team with no charging out at the
wnpire. But our charge will be at the opvositione Let's show them what
real "esprit de corps" and determination can do for a team that has been
shot to pieces, so far as last year's returning lettermen are concernede
Our new team will be vitalized by a group of young men who want to make their
Varsity letters and have a lot of fun playing the great national out-«door
