Myking Mehua; Chief | Vocational Rehabilitation and Education Yivision Veterans Administration Board of Trade Building 1009 Wyandotte Kansas City 6, Missouri Dear Mr, Mehus s I have known Glenn Alrie Oatman for some eight or ten years. I gave him employment as a superintendent of our golf course here at the University during the time that he was going through college. Glenn is a - fine young man with exceptional golf ability, having won the Kansas & Missouri Open Amateur Championship. He was an excellent student. He hac to work his way through college bedause he had no other funds. e graduated in the School of Business and in my opinion is a highly intellectual young man. He also coached the track and tennis team of the University after his graduation. It was part time, he not being on permanent tenure. Mr. Oatman is loyal to his superiors and = __ cooperates well. He is thoroughly reliable and depend- able and has no bad habits. He does not gamble nor use narcotics or alchol. Ue has high —_— and gets things done « } llowever, “ does hawe-at times a slight infortor complex, He is the type that could be easily self- abused, In other words, he feels that he has gotten the. short end of the stick while he was serving and the other fellows were making moneys If he would forget that angle he would be much better off. The war has not bee responsible for this attitudd altogether. He had it in a large part when going through the University and after he was finished. He sees other fellows in a far more lucrative business or he sometimes views ' the son of a wealthy parent and he makes comparsions, leaving himself in the unfortunate position of wondering ~ why those ee @ould not come to hin. I have ween pretty rough on hin eongerning these ce viewpoints and I wonder sometimes if he does not think “Ng I ama little wusympathetic. I give you these things so that you may have the whole picture as 1 see it. — Sincerely yours, Se ' Direotor of Physical Education, ~PCA:Im Varsity Basketball Coach
