October 3, 1944. Mr. Phillip M. Melia, Bucklin, Kansas. Dear Phillip: The Chancellor has sent me a communication from you making anasy regarding basketball. Yes, you would be eligible for basketball and — we onan be glad to have you try out. We mt the boys yester- day afternoon and we plan to practice Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons from 4:30 on. Pharmacy students of course are eligible for the varsity. We have no freshman rule now that would keep you from competing immediately when you enter school. There are very few varsity men returning this year, so you would have an ample chance to make the varsity. We will have rather an attractive schedule, and I trust that it will be possible for you to return. ; ‘ Sincerely yours, Director of Physical Education, PCA: An Varsity Basketball Coach.
