Mag ‘Eaitth Lewis of the Geological Survey Office, just brought
in your original sketch for my inspection, together with a copy of
_ the sketch for my use.

I want you to mow that I feel deeply honored. Our long friemd~
ship and association is further enhanced. I did not know that you
- had this skill added to your many accomplishments. Your versatilities
continue to amaze me. I shall retain this copy with much pride and
appreciation, and will always associate this effort of yours with our |
many pleasent contacts. as . *

Your sketch certainly adds animation to an old man's physloguomy
and as I look at it, it looks almost as if the subject could speak.
But maybe you better not let him because he talks too moh. :

We are hoping this gol-darned war will be over before 1945, but
iam afraid it won't. Anyway, we want you to return so that we can
_ keep alive the many personal pleasantries that we have alumys enjoyed.

I am enclosing a copy of the Jayhawk Rebounds that we send out
monthly to our boys in the service. It is rather lengthy, but I
thought you might like to scan it. I am doing this to keep the
interests of the boys hooked up with the University.
