Allen Director of Physical Education & Recreation University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Dr. Allen: I wish to thank you very kindly for your letter of October 23 in reply to mine, concerning the Exercycle. I am afraid that if I bought one of these outfits it might prove to be a fad and that would be just too bad. It certainly is amusing how some people try to get out of doing work, and do not possess the will power to do that which they know is best for them. Confidentially, I can tell you that a recent acquaintance of yours, and who has since become a distant relative, is using the Lang arch and foot normalizer very religiously. I got the day nurse, which we have had for Mrs. Mons't mother, to try the normalizer yesterday and she thought her feet were being broken in two. I have gotten Mrs. Mons to try it a few times, and now that we are getting back to somewhere near normal, I think I will be able to get her to use it regularly and with compensating results. I have just talked to Jane on the telephone, who seems to be quite happy, although Elwood is laid up with a cold today. By the way, why don't you and Mrs. Allen plan to come on to Chicago for Thanksgiving. Mr. Wigglesworth and I are planning on going to Cincinnati by plane tomorrow evening, and I will stop on the way back and have a little visit with Harriet and Jack and Susan at Columbus. I almost forgot to tell you that we enjoyed very much receiving a call from Mary and her husband, whom we were also glad to meet. With kindest regards to all of you. Cordially, ae P. S. I am glad that you did not return the brochure of the Exercycle. ;
