July 3rd, 1941 Miss Frances Mitchell 1300 Louisiana Street Lawrence, Kansas Dear Miss Mitchell: : on imma é I assure you it was quite all right for you to miss our very nice party that we had the other evening in the Union Building. Everyone seemed to have a delightful time and I essure you thet we missed you. ae m Your explanation of getting lost going to State Lake is throughly a plausible one. If was told of a lost traveler inquiring about his way imto Knoxville. He asked some “bill hilly" about ten miles from Knoxville. The “hill billy" told him to just go over here six miles south and turn back four miles north and then angle over in a eastwardly direction ebout two miles and then | double back west. "Nope, I wouldn't go that way," he said, “you better start out here three miles north and then you angle a little way west and then south and then kind of go east about two miles then south back geross a corduroy road toward the south. Naw", he said, "I wouldn't try that. ‘'Spose you start out here east, about six miles, then you angle up northeast about three miles, then back east one and a half mile and angle north. .New, Pardmer, I wouldn't try that, — I tell you, I just wouldn't start, you'll get lost, anyway.“ e Well, we're glad you got back and we're going to ask you again, end we'll be glad to have you present. Sincerely yours, Director of Physical Bducation and Recreation~Varsity Basketball and Baseball Coach. PCA: re
