Allen, Department of Physical Education, University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas, Dear Dr. Allen: We are delighted to have your letter of July 31 with the information that you will be present with us at the monthly meeting of our post at the Ivanhoe Golf & Country Club, 86th & Holmes: Street, on Monday night, August 11, at 7:45 P.M. Any subject that you choose will be entirely satisfactory with us, We had thought that a subject entitled, "Sportsmanship and Americanism", might be a good title for the talk, as we expect. to have the members of our baseball team present, and this year we have given the players selected from each team in the league a sportsmanship award, the player to receive the award having been chosen for the award on account of his displaying outstand- ing sportsmanship in all the games throughout the Season, and are inviting all the boys to be present who receive this sportsmanship awar@. Personally, I think that some good parallels could be drawn as to the importance of real sportsmanship as attributes and characteristies of major importance in the make-up of what we term "Americanism", As stated, however, we are perfectly willing to leave the subject of your talk to you, but if you can let me know the subject by Thursday or Friday of this week, I can perhaps get an item in the Kansas City Star concerning it and your appearance Monday night, I am inclosing copy of letter written to Roy Roberts of the Kansas City Star but I will not mail this until I hear frem you as to whether or not this subject is okaye Sincerely yours, D BROWN, JR.
