FoArmh~ March 18, 1942 Mre Arthur Morse 10 South La Salle Street Chicago, Illinois Dear Mre Morse: . I have just returned to my office from « trip out west and I em answering your letter at the first possible date. Thank you for your congratulations. I will not be in New York for the National Association of Basketball Coaches con- ventione I am coaching the varsity baseball team and in addition, I have the administration of the Department of Physical Education to handle, so I will pass up the New York trek this time. We are arranging our Big Six basketbell schedule on Seturday morning, March 22nd. After that I can tell more about our datese I read your plan and I think it has possibiliticse You doubtless know thet our Big Six conference bars any college tournament dates outside of the NeCeAsAe That is, if they are played off of the home floor. I think your plan to start February 23rd or there- abouts is a good idea, although most college conferences do not finish until about the first week in March. There are, however, — enough independent teams that you can build up with publicity to draw a great crowde The college teams are the ones that are going to draw in these tournaments, end we will have more of them regardless of what the Big Six end Big Ten do regarding the outlewing of such tournementse ‘There ere many more schools thet will permit their teams to enter tournaments such as yours then there are schools that will prohibit it. Chicago should be « great place to put on such & tournament, and I believe that with your location and power of publicity, you should do = good jobe With all good wishes, I am Sincerely yours s Director of Physical Education and Recreation Varsity Besketball Coach ms
