U.. games. We have worked out a drill using flashlights which the audiences here seem to like, and we thought it might be a different type of entertainment for your games. This fall the girls have drilled at Wichita, Stafford, and Pratt, and are planning to go to Lib- eral this Friday it you. are interested, would you send me a list of the possible dates we might appear? The girls will stand their own expenses. Sincerely yours, bene Holl « Physical Education February 16, 1940. MASSEY Superintendent Kanorado, Kansas February 23 1940 Dector Forest C, Allen, University of Kansas, Lawrence ,Kansase Dear Doctor Allen: Your proposal to eliminate short shots in basketball, as you weré quoted in the papers this morning is of particular interest to us here, and the more we have thought about it today, the more "sold" on the idea are our basketball coach and myself, It looks as tho it would be a blessing to small schools such as ours, We are having an interclass tournament two weeks hence, and it is our plan to try the suggestions you make. Our team this year has been made up of medium height boyso and when they come in contact with a team of taller boys we are handicapped from the start. I am sure your proposal will help us overcome such differences. : : I hope you can sell Ward Lambert,of Purdue, on the idea when you meet up with him at the National Association of Coaches in April. Also how about bringing Purdue to Kansas for a couple of games next year ? MONNET February 28, 1940 Mre Fe Ce Allen c/o University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas My dear Mr. Allen: We are to have a little oyster supper at our house as usual on March 8th, the night of the basketball game between the University and Kansas. We have enjoyed visits from you in the past on this occasion and Mrs. Monnet instructs me to extend you an invitation to be present with us that evening after the game. However, we feel considerable trepidation about extending this invitation and we want you to feel perfectly free to decline it if you, for any reason, feel that it is not in the interest of your team or school for you to absent yourself from other plans. With this reservation, we want to very cordially invite you to join the small crowd that will be with us for the usual oyster supper. With regards, I am Yours truly, (Julien C. Monnet, JCM/vim ~~
