My dear Mr. Allen:

We are to have a little oyster supper at our
house as usual on March 8th, the night of the basketball game
between the University and Kansas. We have enjoyed visits from
you in the past on this occasion and Mrs. Monnet instructs me
to extend you an invitation to be present with us that evening
after the game. However, we feel considerable trepidation about
extending this invitation and we want you to feel perfectly free
to decline it if you, for any reason, feel that it is not in the
interest of your team or school for you to absent yourself from
other plans. With this reservation, we want to very cordially
invite you to join the small crowd that will be with us for the
usual oyster supper.
