1503 First Avenue Dodge City, Kansas September 18, 1938 Dre Forrest C. Allen Department of Physical Education Lawrence, Kansas Dear Dr. Allen: I want to tell you how much I appreciated your letter of congratulation. It was so thoughtful of you. As busy as you are you always seem to find time to think of the least of us! Mr. Toalson, before he hired me, said you gave me some very good recommendations, and I am sure that did a lot for me. I am saving the carbon copies you wrote to Salina. Mr. Waring said he didn't feel he could hire two inexperienced teachers. Although I would have liked to work with Ruth, I can readily understand why Salina could not take two who were new at teaching. I am very happy with this position. I don't believe there is a finer principal than the one I have. He is doing everything he can to help me and it certainly makes these first few weeks a lot easier. I am looking forward to your visit here in January and hope the reports you hear of your former student are those you expect. Sincerely, Sone Hold
