July 11, 1938 Drs F. Ce Aiien University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Phog, The main reason for this letter is Betty Jeanne. She has decided that she would like to come to K. U. Naturally she would have to have work, so I was won- dering just what you could do for her.. I would certainly appreciate it if you would let me know about the situation as soon as possibdie. ‘Let me, . .. know how much she can make and still carry 4 good’ course of study. She is a very good student and won't have trouble scholastically. You know what will be necessary as well = I am in very fine condition as yet. My back is bothering me an awfully lot but that is all. I weigh 173 now and am just about as tough as I can bee I hope to be ready to give them everything this next year. I know that I was a washout to almost everyone last year. At least I did not live up t o expectations. I regret that an awful lot. My look- out has changed and I will try much harder this year. If I get out of line or anything I surely want you to knock me back in the groove. I may have to come to see you about my back. I am having Dr. Cartwright look at it today. He should be able to take care of it. Would appreciate it if you would answer this letter at your earliest convenience. Remember me to Bob and all the family. Sincerely,
