Dear Alstons

A very good friend of mine, a former athlete here at Kansas,
Melvin Thornhill from Protection, Kansas, desires six good seats for the
AcAsU. Tournament in Denver. He would like to have them five or six rows
up and in the middle of the stage. They want the tickets for only the
night games so Iwould appreciate it, Alston, if you would tell me if you
can get them sda It will be a real favor, I assure yous

Melvin Thornhill was one of our really great athletes, but
he ruptured the ligaments in his knee just prior to the Oklahoma football
games You remember him I am sure, It was along back in the late 20's
and early 30's that he was the national intercollegiate shoteput champion,
even after his knee was operated on. He was one,of the finest baseball
players, and one of the most excellent basketball players that I have ever
seen, Had he not been injured, he would have been as great as Ray Evans
and as great an allearound athlete as Jim Bausch, lie is a very prosperous
farmer, flies his own plane, ond is a wonderful gentleman.

, Therefore, I» ould thank you if you would make the necessary
reservations for six or seven tickets and find out when it is necessary for
the cash to be on the barrel head and when reservations can be made. I can
get the money from him and send it to youat any time it is necessary, so

I am writing early so thet he can get the tickets he most desires.

If you can have your , resurvethins protected now, call up
and order seven of the above described tickets, Mutt has invited me to
be his guest at those games, which accounts for the seventh one, but I
doubt if I will be able to accept his generousity.

The Thornhills have already made arrangements for their
rooms at the Albany Hotel, so you see ~ meandefinitely to take in |
the show,
