I have a young son, Cleveland, who is 11 year's
old. He is very much interested in basketball. In our
yerd we heve an official basketball layout. He knows of
our mutual friendship and has learned of you and your
basketball leadership. Although but 11 he takes clothes
for a 15 yeer old boy. I believe he will develope into
a basketball player, because he likes the game and has
the physical promise. I would like to buy from the
University a discarded basketball and ask that you write
your name on it. I want to pay for it, but I want one---
one that has been used in at least some pley. If you can
arrenge to send it to Cleveland McCarty, 730 York street,
Denver, and just a note from you with it I will greatly
appreciate it. Send statement to me at 1700 EB. Colfax,
Denver and I will forward check immediately.

I am with you 100% on the crusade against
gambling in Madison Square Garden. My friend Jack Carberry
feels as you do about it also. He has certainly paid you
some very high compliments.

Can't you arrange to come out for a day or so
during the A AU basketball tournament. “If you can come
please let me know. I would like to have a luncheon for
you at the Athletic Club and invite Jack and Red Nelson, of
the News, together with Mayor Stapleton and a few leading
K.U. men. It would be a fine thing for the University. And
incidentally bring your golf clubs. Its swell at the Denver
Country Club now,
