April 2, 1945. oh | = Mr. C. B. MoBride, Sporte Bditor, The Kansas City Star, Kensas City, Mo. Dear Mac: I noticed in your sport colum where you stated that I was to speek to the Parkville boys and girls teams tonight. {I am sending you a list of some of my speaking engagements starting on March 14, after the basketball season was over. | When you speak in this grapefruit and lettuce league, only they don't serve grapefruit any more, you get a little lettuce and some- times some chicken pie. But the days of rationing have out dow the supply. However, the demand is still for an animated cartoon to appear before athletic and other clubs. Some say that when three Americans get together we will have speeches. Well, I guess that is true bewause I have quite a group to appear before. ; i had planned to have a visit with you on March 27 at the Casey Stengel get-together, but Ernie Mehl said that you were not’ feeling well and could not make it. I spoke at noon to the Givil Engineering Society at the Hotel President, and had I known that you were not going to be at the dinner I would have looked you up between the noon and evening engage- ments. I went down to Lowe & Campbell's and we had quite a long visit with Red Brown, going over his early high sehool days in Kansas City. I trust that you are feeling well again and that the grandohildren are not taking granddaddy for too many rides. And they are not the horseback kind that I am speaking of, either. 5s With ‘best wishes to Grandpa and Grandma Mo3ride and the rest of the MéBride olen, Ian | : Very sincerely yours, = . _ Direotor of Physical Education, PGA: AH Varsity Basketball Coach.
