Mrse Allen and I definitely assured each other that we would
be able to secept your very conereus invi tet? on to be present at the
Reserve Officers Training Corps Military Ball on the 4th of Aprile

But yesterday when I was in Faneas City speaking at the Traffic Club
luncheon, Webb Holloway and Cal Morrow, two proninent Kansas City .
Alumni, notified me that the Kansas City, Missouri Relay Club had
definitely set April 4 as the date for a banquet to our basketball
team to be held in Kenses City, Missouri And, of course, they —
asked me to speek very briefly. oe

That puts me behind the 8 balle and when I told urs.
4llen about it last nicht, she said, "Well, there just isntt
any us¢é of our ever thinking we could attend the ReOeTeCe Ball."
So again, I will have to ask you to excuse us and I humbly beg
your pardons %e regret exceedingly that we cannot be with youe
