October 10, 1939 Dr. Forrest C.Allen University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Dr. Allen: One of the most enjoyable interviews I have ever had was with you the other day, and it is with regret that I have to make the following report to you concerning the arrange- ments we discussed. Hotel Muehlebach and a subsidiary Hotel will be filled to capacity from March 24th through March 29th. These dates were chosen by the National Catholic Educational Association and Hotel Muehlebach was selected as headquarters on the day I was down to see you. I feel that the large attendance for this meeting would interfere with our handling the coaches who will be attending your meetings beginning the 28th of March. We have no desire to gamble with our contribution to the success of your meeting. Of course, we will be able to very satisfactor- ily handle the teams which will be here on March 22nd and a3rda, and for this group we will furnish you twin-bedded rooms at $5.00 per room, and such singles as our required at $3.00. Again on the 30th we would appreciate handling the two basket- ball teams playing the finals, and the same rates will prevail. Possibly you might like also to have our splendid meeting rooms for the use of the officials comprising the Basketball Rules Committee on March 30th, 3lst and April lst. We would be very happy to be permitted to take care of this group. Should the main body of coaches who will be here arrive on the «9th instead of the 28th, we can successfully handle the entire group and will be delighted to be granted this privilege. The rates that will prevail for this group will be $3.00, $3.50 and $4.00 single and $5.00, $6.00 and $7.00 for twin bed accommodations.
