LAWRENCE, Kas., April 22.—Kansas

City, the college basketball capital
of the United States for ‘the: season

of 1939-40.
| That sounds like a dream impos-
sible of achievement but it’s a dream
that is coming true. Just enter these
dates in your year book for future
reference and, if you happen to be a
basketball patron, for anticipation,

March 11-16—The National Inter-
collegiate tournament. (Third.year).

March. 22-23—Mid-West and
Western Regional semi-finals of the —
N. C. A. A. (National cee
Athletic Association) .

March 30—Final N. C. A. A,
championship game.

Dates Are Approved.

There you have the auditorium
basketball dates for March of next
year, dates already approved both
by the basketball] officials and the
auditorium management.
The March 22-23 games will be
those that were held in San Fran-
cisco last March when Oklahoma,
Utah, California and Oregon met.
The March 30 date will be the game
that was held in the Northwestern
gymnasium at Evanston last March
when Oregon defeated Ohio State
for the N..C. A. A. championship:

At the same time, the western
regionals-are being played in Kansas
City the eastern regionals will be
played probably in Philadelphia. The
two winning teams will meet in the
auditorium the Saturday night of
the following week, March 30.

Coaches to Convene Here,

The annual meeting of the Na-
tional Association of Basketball
| Coaches will be held in Kansas City
| for the first time in conjunction with
the regional playoffs. In these play-
oifs either the Big Six or the Mis-
souri Valley coference champions
will be represented.

Forrest C. Allen, K. U. basketball
coach and head’ of the department of
physical. education, is a member of
the N. C. A. C. committee. The au-
ditorium dates have been approved

by Coach Olson of Ohio State who
|is chairman of the national com-
mittee. -

These dates simply mean that
Kansas City will see over a period of
