THE HOTEL mmonwealth PZ RELA tC £ PAUL DICKSON, MANAGER BROADWAY At THIRTEENTH KANSAS City, Mo. +400 ROOMS ALU Wilh BATH APARTMENTS SUITES ROOMS PERMANENT OR TRANSIENT March 15, 1940 Dear Doctor Allen: I understand that you will have four basket ball teams from various Universities here for national competition next week-end and we would like very much to enter- tain these teams at Hotel Commonwealth. Of course you know we are just one block from the Auditorium and have very comfortable and ample facilities here to accommodate the teams. I had the pleasure of meeting you last fall when I was Executive Assistant Manager at Hotel Continental and I would appreciate the opportunity of serving you here at the Hotel Commonwealth. I assumed management of the Commonwealth on December 1 and have remodeled and redecorated the coffee shop and completely redecorated fifty rooms so far and have given all the rest a thorough cleaning. I believe that we now have one of the nicest hotels in town and, I am sure, offer the best values in rooms and meals. By putting four men in a room with two double beds and bath, we can take care of your teams at a special rate of $1.00 per man and would be pleased to serve them three excellent meals per day for $1.35, making a total cost per man, room and meals, of $2.35. I am sure the teams would enjoy the convenience, comfort and hospitality here at the Commonwealth and if you favor us with your nice business, I will give it my personal attention and see that everything possible is done for your interests.
