Sloatsburg, New York July 22, 1940 pr. ©.Cs Allen Lawrence, Kansas Dear Dr. Allen, Again I call upon you for help. I am placing my name on file at the N Y U Appointment Bureau and need a few references. I shall appreciate any statement you might wish to make on the enclosed blank. Half of the summer session is over already. My how time does fly. I have a test in Safety Procedures this afternoon. It seems that all of the teachers think this is the end of the semester and they got together and decided to give final exams on this first semeste#s work. However I don't let it bother me. I've learned that worry over tests is a bad thing. Alice is now concentrating on a test in Principles. That is the main course here and everyone worries over the tests in it. Most of the past week has been perfect camping weather. I was 6& the city Saturday, spent the day at the fair and was it ever hot. Perhaps I noticed it more because I was dressed up rather than in my shorts as I'm used to wearing here. Next Saturday is Columbia University day here in camp. About 35 Columbia students are coming out to spend the day playing tennis, badminton, swimming, baseball, etc. then stay for the camp dance Sat. night. It's always a big day especially for those of us who are on the committee and are responsible for seeing that everyone has fun. I must close this and get to work. I hope this doesn't cause you too much trouble. Thanking you for any help you may give me, I remain yours truly, Lahow, Deby}
