National Collegiate Group Announces Eight Dis- ‘tricts to Try A POST-SEASON SERIES: One ion From Each Dis-| trict to Be Named for the Big Test - _ Columbus, O., Dec. 14. (P)—The | National Collegiate Athletic asso- | ciation’s plan to select America’s first undisputed college basketball champion advanced a step today as H. G. Olsen, Ohio State Univer- sity’s cage coach, named eight dis- trict committees which will select one entrant each for the post-sea- son title series. Dates and sites for the games have not been determined, Olsen - said, but he indicated the four-team clash east of the Mississippi would be held March 10-11 or March 17-18 at New York or Philadelphia, with the western teams meeting the same dates at Kansas City, Den- ver or Los Angeles. Winners of the sectional frays will meet the fol- lowing week for the crown. Of the 205 teams affiliated with the N. C. A. A., one from each dis- trict is eligible to play in the post- season series. Districts may hold playoffs to name their entrant, Ol- sen said but such play-offs are not “necessary or desirable.” The Committees The district committees, with the eligible teams and the states in- cluded in their area, are: No. 1—(26 teams, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachu- setts, Rhode Island and Connecti- cut) Wesley Fesler of Harvard, chairman; Sumner Dole, Connecti- cut State college; Osborne G. ~ Cowles, Dartmouth.
