Five or six years ago at the request of a number of clubs in Nebraska, where there are so many sand greens, we developed a double cup, which is about 18 or 20 inches long, a standard size hole cup with an outside shell that is installed permanently in the green, and the inside shell is a cup with a bottom in it that has a frog in it to support the flag pole, and this inner cup can be lifted out aml emptied when filled with sand. These cups are made of galvanized steel, and the price is $2.25 per cupe They are furnished only on special order, aml it takes about two to three days to get these cups mde upe We trust this is the information you want, and if we can serve you, we will be pleased to have your order, which will have our prompt attention. We would like to call your attention to a special foMer which we are inc losing which may be of interest to you or whoever might be the proper authority. This folder is in regard to a perticuler sprinkler thet has been recently developed for the watering of athletic fields. It is the most perfect aml lowest priced watering system ever provided for football playing fields, polo fiels, etc. You will observe from the inclosed letter, which is a form that we are seming out to every University in the middle west, that it is already installed on a mumber of the leading University fields inthis section of the country. Mr. Spurling of the University of Missouri sent me word a couple of weeks ago that it is the finest thing he ever saw, and he would be gled for me to use him as a reference for anyone who wanted to inquire of its efficiency for athletic field watering. If the University of Kansas is interested in this piece of equipment, we would be glad to send one of our men over there with one of these sprinklers and let you see the performance of it. BELL & SON Southwestern Distributors WE DO NOT SACRFICE QUALITY FOR PRICE ~ FULL AUTOMATIC SPRINKLING WITH THE IMPROVED ECONOMY Traveling SPRINKLER COUPLED WITH THE Adamson Moving Base WATERS AN ENTIRE ATHLETIC OR POLO FIELD WITHOUT FURTHER ATTENTION AFTER STARTING——EVEN SHUTS THE WATER OFF WHEN THE JOB IS FINISHED! WILL WATER ANY LARGE UNOBSTRUCTED LAWN OR TURFED AREA. Entirely New Method of Watering ! WATER! LABOR! SAVES ) EQUIPMENT! INSTALLATION COSTS! THE REASON WHY There are NOW hundreds of ECONOMY TRAVELING Sprinklers watering High School and College Athletic Fields, Polo Fields and Golf Course Fairways. IT DOES A BETTER JOB THE NEW ADAMSON TRAVELING BASE.— Simplified and Improved W heel has greater wire capacity. AI parts built heavier and stronger. THE ECONOMY TRAVELING BASE UNIT is fast gaining popularity on golf courses desiring uniformly green fairways, without the usual dry spots. Far less water is used than with other methods because the water is distributed like rain—slowly and evenly. Users report better conditions with less water. THE ECONOMY TRAVELING BASE UNIT requires less hose and no moving after starting and when connected with Economy Snap Valves at water outlet, will automatically shut off the water when the end of the hose is reached. This is the ideal way to water Athletic Fields, Polo Fields, Golf Course Fairways, and all large turfed areas. . Two complete units may be started at one end of an athletic field at night, and by morning they have travelled the entire length, watering the field perfectly. With the aid of the “ECONOMY SNAP VALVE” the water is automatically shut off, and the sprinklers come to rest at the other end of the field with sprinkling job completed. This traveling method of sprinkling accomplishes THE BEST POSSIBLE WATERING JOB! METHOD OF OPERATION. The Economy Traveling Sprinkler Head (Cut A) is attached to the Traveling Base (Cut B) with a length of one inch pipe, and is propelled around the base by the force of the water. For each complete turn of the sprinkler around the base the entire unit moves forward five feet. Under normal conditions an average traveling speed of thirty feet per hour proves very satisfactory—-—however the speed of travel may be regulated according to the amount of water desired. DISTRIBUTION OF WATER. The five foot forward movement of the base at each turn of the sprinkler around the base results in a slow and exceptionally even distribution of the water over the entire length of the field, with the same degree of accuracy as a lathe turns down a shaft. STRAIGHT EDGE WATERING. This is: accomplished because the slow continuous forward travel of the unit, eliminates the dry triangles or “V”s caused by set circle sprinklers. This straight edge watering is most important on athletic fields, as the track can be kept dry, while the turf is thoroughly watered to the very edge of the track. CUT A THE ECONOMY TRAVELING HEAD.— Heavier construction throughout. Built for hard work, longer life, and greater water capacity. NIGH YT WATERING. This has many advantages when “Economy” Traveling Sprinklers with Traveling Bases are used, because ist—A_ field can be properly watered at night, and played on next morning. 2nd.—A tremendous saving of Water, Time and Labor. Think of it! A.—No water evaporation rom sun, wind and heat. B.—No practice time lost because of day watering. C—Elimination of manual labor. No changing sprinklers at night. 3rd.—Firmer turf, due to slow penetration, resulting from even water distribution, and the elimination of water run-off to low spots. Watering in the cooler temperature of the night prevents burning of the grass. IMMEDIATE ECONOMIES. Installation and equipment costs are considerably less: operating costs are cut, and less water and labor required than with other types of equipment and methods of watering. RUBBER TOP VALVE FOR ECONOMY SNAP VALVE QUILL OR COUPLING USE ON PLAYING AREAS WITH LOCK LID AND FOR THE END OF KEY HOSE THE BEST ON THE MARKET THE ECONOMY SNAP VALVE now replaces the old-time outlet box and faucet. It affords an automatic shutoff when used with the ECONOMY TRAVELING UNIT. At the same time it eliminates leaky and boggy places around outlets. It is a great time-saver in connecting and disconnecting hose and equipment. The valve is installed below the surface of the ground out of the way of a mower; there is no outlet lid to be left off, and thus many acci- dents are avoided. The water cannot be turned on without the quill, which is put away with the hose. A faucet key locks the lid of the valve when not in use, and thus prevents anyone tampering with the valve.
