THE ECONOMY TRAVELING BASE UNIT is fast gaining popularity on golf courses desiring uniformly
green fairways, without the usual dry spots. Far less water is used than with other methods because
the water is distributed like rain—slowly and evenly. Users report better conditions with less water.

THE ECONOMY TRAVELING BASE UNIT requires less hose and no moving after starting and when
connected with Economy Snap Valves at water outlet, will automatically shut off the water when the
end of the hose is reached. This is the ideal way to water Athletic Fields, Polo Fields, Golf Course
Fairways, and all large turfed areas. .

Two complete units may be started at one end of an athletic field at night, and by morning they
have travelled the entire length, watering the field perfectly. With the aid of the “ECONOMY SNAP
VALVE” the water is automatically shut off, and the sprinklers come to rest at the other end of the field

with sprinkling job completed.
This traveling method of sprinkling accomplishes THE BEST POSSIBLE WATERING JOB!

METHOD OF OPERATION.

 

The Economy Traveling Sprinkler Head (Cut A) is attached to the Traveling Base (Cut B) with a length of
one inch pipe, and is propelled around the base by the force of the water. For each complete
turn of the sprinkler around the base the entire unit moves forward five feet. Under normal
conditions an average traveling speed of thirty feet per hour proves very satisfactory—-—however
the speed of travel may be regulated according to the amount of water desired.

DISTRIBUTION OF WATER.

 

The five foot forward movement of the base at each turn of the sprinkler around the base results in
a slow and exceptionally even distribution of the water over the entire length of the field, with the
same degree of accuracy as a lathe turns down a shaft.

STRAIGHT EDGE WATERING.

 

This is: accomplished because the slow continuous forward travel of the unit, eliminates the dry triangles
or “V”s caused by set circle sprinklers. This straight edge watering is most important on athletic
fields, as the track can be kept dry, while the turf is thoroughly watered to the very edge
of the track.
