Lawrence, Kans«s February 20, 1928, lip, A. A. Schabinger, Secretary~'reasurer, | National Association of Basketball Coaches, Creighton University, | ; Omaha, Nebrasica. Dear Sehabie:- Again I have delayed answering your letter immediately. I received letters from "Piggy" Lambert, E. lL. Romney, Hd Wachter and a number of the other fellows who are very much interested in the coaches associations Leo Novak writes that you did not send him enough blanks. You only sent him fifty and he ecleims he had seventy to mail out. I wonder if you would make inquiry from people you mailed blanks out to to see if they could use more of them. : I eve written to the different Membership Chairman uring that they push the membership pro- position for all it is worth, I have also written letters to the different chairmen asking them to go forward with their various projects as rapidly as possible. But the membership deal is the big one at present, I am taking the matter up with Vard Lambert regarding the basketball rules committee Letters regarding the other features such as the entertainment committee, program committee, etc., will follow. , Please do not °@ abashed at all in writing as many letters as possible to these various ine © dividuals. In this way we are able to form a closer alignmens, ands fesendabaPwa tebe ikl creaurs inroutve WREEESn a letter to Leo Novak urging that he attend the meeting in Chicago. I made it strong enough so that he could turn it over to his Athletic Board, He says they have plenty of money and will send hin We should have a large meeting in Chicago. ~ Be “ I have written to Crisler at the University of Chicago asking him to reserve a number of seats at the National High School Basketball Tournament for the coaches. Of course, we should pay for these. I am wondering regarding weet a letter to Eddie Nelichol of the University of Pennsylvania appointing him chairman of the Press Committee. What right do we have to unseat liatthews? I had heard unfavorable reports concerning him after his name was suggested as chairman of the Press Committee. I talked to you about it but you thought thet he was 0.K. I do not want to be arbitrary even though it © would be better from the Association standpoint to make a change. Sut after Matthews was appointed, I do not know what right I have to unseat him until he resigns his chairmanship. However, if you think this should be done for the good of the game, I will do it. But I want to be fair all around. | e Please let me hear from you at your earliest convenience. C.- Allen, President National Ass'n of Basketball Coaches University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear "Phog": Your letter came this morning; also your day letter. Several days ago I sent application for membership blanks, stationery and constitutions together with the statement for their $2.00 dues to all of the officers and some of the others. A few days later I sent the same to all the men on the Membership Committee. Today I mailed stationery out, as per your request, to all chairmen of the various committees excepting the Press Committee of which Mathews of St. Louis is chairman. Why not appoint McNichol of Penn- syivania chairman of the Press Committee in Mathews place and get him busy? I am mailing you twenty-five application blanks which you may wish to use. In another year I could handle all of this material with a great deal more ease than this first one because of so many different movements in getting everything that we should have ready, and I will do my best to help swell the member- ship. I shall mail out application blanks to the colleges and universities in the North Central Conference and the Nebraska Conference and other personal friends I may have. So there may be no duplication of effort, do you not think that you, as President, should write to the various chairmen telling them of their duties on their particular committees in order to have a live program at our meeting in April? If there is any part of this that you - wish me to do, please outline it and I shall get at it right away.
