December 6, 1944. Hon. Le H. MoBrien, M.L.C., Secretary, Victorian Football League, 4 Collins Street, Melbourne, C. I., Australia. Dear Mr. MeBrien: Your and my good friend, Col. Karl F. Baldwin, writes mo from Melbourne, enclosing your Primer of Australian Rules of Football, and your football record, for which I desire to thank you very much. Colonel Baldwin is tremendously interested in the type of football that you are playing in Australia. He says there is something doing every moment of the game. "It is by far the best football game I have seen from the standpoint of spectators' © interest. . . « It might be styled as foot-basketball since the ball is everything. The quibbling and delays so coumon in our game are not present in this, and it seems to me to have great value as a game which can be participated in by a lerge number of players.” So you see you have one outstanding American defin- itely sold on your fine game. Nothing would give mo more pleasure than to view a game, and I trust that some time in the not too dis- tant future I may have the opportunity. I was queried, confidentially, by the Army in going over the first of Novenber, but I could not get away from my athletic duties hare. However, I am hoping that at the end of the basketball season I may have the opportunity, and may have the added pleasure of meeting you in person at sone near future date. dith all good wishes, IT an Sincerely yours, Director of Physical Bducation, PCA:AH Varsity Basketball Coach.
