Dr. James Naismith who invented the game in 1891, is being honored this
year by a Golden Jubilee campaign which will see thousands of basketball teams
playing Golden Ball Games for the purpose of erecting a Temple of Basketball
at Springfield, Mass.—site of the first game. The Temple of Basketball will
house a Hall of Fame and an historical museum. In its archives will be preserved
the records and data of the sport.
