Dear Dr, Allen:

As you see, stories even reach New York papers regard-
ing your dislike for proselyting. Also, I have noted
in small copy that the University has dropped minor
sports because of the war, and I am wondering if it
isn't due to the depleted bank account of the depart-
ment. Too bad the Athletic Directorship hasn't the
business knowledge that position has been accustomed
to. I'm certain some small politicians owe you an
apology.
