You have received a letter from G. Ott Romney, Director of the
Recreation Section, Work Projects Administration, telling of the Conference oo
being held January 11-12-13, 1940 as a part of our January Recreation Insti-
tute ® i

The three days will be specifically devoted to determining a
how universities may assist the Work Projects Administration and other ad
government agencies in their training programs through intensive short oat
courses.

The Work Projects Administration seems anxious to draw on
the facilities of selected universities, and representatives of the Army
and Navy have also indicated their interest in the matter and will probably
be represented.

We are very happy to join the Work Projects Administration
in issuing this invitation, and I hope it will be possible for you to be
represented. It is my understanding that the Work Projects Administration
hopes to make arrangements with universities for in-service training in
each of their nine regions and in some individual States where their unem-
ployment is especially heavy.

list of hotels which was forwarded to applicants for our January Institute, ig
and the announcement of our January course together with a tentative agenda |
