Dear "Phog”:

This will thank you very much for your fine letter of
December 2nd in regard to Dave Shirk.

I have included him on my list of recommendations to
the Shrine Committee in San Francisco. I had quite a talk with
Babe Hollingbery, the other coach, in Kansas City and they are
faced with a real problem due to the fact that so many outstanding
seniors are available this year from all sections. The limit the
squad to twenty-two men which allows four ends.

I know from our games in which Dave played that he is
a grand competitor. It would be a great pleasure to work with a
boy of that type.

Sorry I did not get over to your affair Saturday after-
noon. I had planned to do so but got tied up at the Kansas City
elub.
