December 5, 1945 Mr. Ren 'onebrake Pe O- Box 195 Baldwin City, Kansas Dear Ren: ZI am glad to get your letter of the third instant. He told John Pfitsch, my assistant, that he had some difficulty with | his eligibility at Baker, which would not permit him to be eligible this semester, I know how boys feel and it's just an escape that he is using, but you can't blame him. He didn't come to see me and, of course, if he does, it is a little awkwerd for me to do much for him. Ren, we do have a lot of material and it is much more difficult for me to coach that material when there is so much of it on about equal footing. If we had just a few boys who were good, then we would spend. most of the time on them, but there are a lot of return-~ ing service men and they are all wanting a chance to play. It makes it difficult for me. I know how the boys feel and I love to play, but in sports democracy still holds sway to play the best man and the other boys wouldn't admire us if we did $therwise, so I am sorry. I wish that I could help Bob. - It might be better for him if he did play in- tramural because he would be one of the top boys in that. It might be the very thing that would build in him added confidence. Rest assured I would do and will do everything I can for Bob. With el11 good wishes, I an _ Sincerely yours, Director of Physical Education, Varsity Basketball Coach. —
