Building", beg lonve to submit the following report: The committee began its work with the idea in mind of forming a Union organization on some such general plan as that cxisting at the University co: Michigane It was soon felt that no such comprehensive organization coul* be carricd out hore with facilitics as limited as we have at prosont ant 2. likely to have for somo timc. It was thon decided to appoint two subs comnittoes: one to plan a temporary organization to exercise, for a linic period, such powers rcegarding use ond control of the Union Builcing as sho Memorial Corporation might see fit to confor upon its; tho second to work out plans for a more permanent organization which, at some latcr time, shou. : succeed the temporary organization. Various meotings have since been hold. In attempting to work out actual details or organization, there has come, throuzh much discussion, tho feolirg that on organization to fit the needs of the University and make the best uso of its Union Building will need to be worked out somewhat gradually and experinentally, just as the Union Building itself is likely to take form and its facilitics become available somewhat slowly. Accordingly, the cormittce has decided to make the following rccomncndsationss le Thet in return for the oxclusivo use and control of the floor now used for a cafcteria and the uso of the corridor of the first. floor as a passagoway to the cafetcria, tho University provide heat, light, necessary repairs and janitor service for the Union Building, and pay a small amount, limited, perhaps, to a sum not oxceccing $1,000, for other personnel assistance. ( Sco 5 below) 2= That the exclusive control of the Union Building outside of the cafeteria floor and corridor on the first floor ( as mentioned in 1 above) remain in the hands of the Mcmorial Corporation or their ropresontativese 3— That the right to install a soda fountain and to sell candy, and other carticles usually sold in Union Buildings, aside from meals, bo ro served to the Mcmorial Corporation.
