Dear George :

Pardon my delay in answering your good letter of the
16th instant. I had expected to answer it the next day but
was tied up with some of my many duties and failed to do it.

Yes, I have heard of you quite a bit. Henry Shenk, our
football coach spoke to me saying professor Parker had. spoken
to him, Then I had the talk with professor Parker in Olathe.

I assure you that we will happy indeed to have you dome to
the University of Kansas: and you can rest assured of working
and it will pay $.50 an hour. We can give you as much work
as you actually need, but I would advise against trying to do

any more work than is absolutely necessary for you to ‘get your
education, So many boys work longer hours than they should
and many times their academic work suffers. | oe

: I would be glad to come down dnd see you real soon

but I'am teaching classes here at the University and being
district Governor of Rotary, President of Country Clhb, president
of the Civic Action Council and Councilman of the lst ward
together with a lot of other activities, I keep extremely

busy e e.. oe

I go to Manhattan Kensas Monday for district assembly in

Rotary, so it might be some little time before I could get down.
So far as I am concerned lét us consider that you are planning
en coming to the University and in the meantime we can plan on

deding each other at the most favorable opportunity. Gasoline
being what it is at the present time I have been witholding trips
unless I could kill two birds with one stone. I might be on an
official visit to’ one of the Rotary clubs and in that event I could
stop and see you and we could go over all the details that you would
wish to discuss. ,

Iam going to turn your letter to our Mr. E. ©. Quigley,
director of athletics who travels a great deal and I am sure that
in within a weeks time he will be able to drop by and visit with you.
- I em sure that you made a very wise choice and we are happy indeed
to help you in every possible way, and I am gldd to repeat, your
