September 9, 1941. Mr. Dan Partner, Sperts Editor, The Kansas City Star, Kansas City, Mo. Dear Dan: Thenk you for your very good letter of recent date. Person- ally, Dan, I am not hard on the boys from Aggieville. They are a fine, aggressive, ambitious group of young chaps who want to get eshead, and who can blame them for that? It is interesting to note your correspondence from the down- town quarterbacks fram Manhattan. I am surprised that I was not mentioned in that smear campaign conducted by my collaborators. I feel a little hurt thet they left me out -- or did they? Maybe you just didn't want to hurt my feelings - I em so sensitive to criticisn. One of the boys told me this morning thet Ward Heylett told a Class B boy in basketball that "Phog" Allen didn't fool wjth any Class B boys, he just had to have the big shots. I can t be- lieve that Ward said such a naughty thing. Bruce Voran was’a a ee ee ee ee ee ee I have had. But, Dan, I just wrote you for the fun of it. I didn't have any Spanish bleod even on the surface. I took your letter home and read it to the family. They were happy to hear from youe I saw Dr. Peete Saturday night at Jane's wedding at our home and we had a nice visit. Dr. and lirs. Peete both think you are tops. iI will be wanting to see you and have ea chat with you, and I guess the only chance I will have is to drop in and see you. I always enjoy your writings. You seem to be alive to the real situation. Sincerely yours, Director of Physical Education and Recreation, PCA:AH Varsity Basketball and Baseball Coach.
