Dear Dr. Allen,

I wish that you would consider this letter as an application for
a position as a trainer or base line coach on the Kansas University
baseball team.

While in the united States Navy I played baseball on my ship's
team up until the time I was injured. This injury resulted in
the loss of my left leg, but of course, did nat detract from
my knowledge or interest in the game. I am well acquainted with
the rules of baseball as well as good playing. I have managed
and coached sandlot ball clubs in my home town of Wichita, and
may refer you to Mr. A.E.(Monk) Edwards of Wichita High School
North for recommendation as to my ability.

At this time I am wearing an artificial leg, with which I get
around very well. I am sure that this disability would not hinder
me from serving you and the team in a good capacity.
