Dear Doc:

Thanks a lot for your letter of
September 14th. I was terribly sorry to miss
you the other day, but your office was full when
I was there in the morning and I missed you in
the afternoon.

I did want to tell you how much
I appreciated your efforts in my Mother's behalf
towards obtaining for her the House Mother job
at the Sig Ep House at Lawrence for this coming
year. I certainly think it was fine of you to
write the letter for her and she has asked me
repeatedly to tell you how much she appreciated

I expect to bring my family up
Sunday for a short time to see her, and I will
be glad to call you at home then, as I would
like to talk to you for a few minutes. Things
are going o.k. here and it looks like a very
busy fall. I think that forty two you shot on
the golf course the other day was o.k. and I'11
have to have strokes when we go out to play our
game. Thanks again for your fine letter and will
call you Sunday.
