DONALD D. PHILLIPS LAWYER Farmers & Merchants Bank Bldg. COLBY, KANSAS May 29, 1939 Mr. Phog Allen University of Kansas Lewrence, Kansas Dear Mr. Allen: I am taking the liberty of directing this letter of inquiry to you as I feel you can give us the best possible advise. Our problem is ir connection with the construction of four cement tennis courts as apart of a recreational project under WPA for Colby. We can't seem to get any authoritative advise as to how far the backstops should be from the edge of the courts. The plans as now drawn allow a distance of fifteen feet, but a number of people here seem to think that the distance should be greater. It is possible thet on some occasions the courts will be used for tournament play and we want to allow the correct distance between the courts and the backstops. If you can advise me in this matter, I will be very grateful for the favor. Very truly yours, ell
