Dear Dr. Allen:

I have been carefully surveying the field since receiving

your letter sometime ago recommending Rey Parkins for our job here

at Miami. I find thet he now ranks very highly among our é¢andidates
and I am having him come for an interview this weekend. I have been
uneble to find out anything other than complimentary about this man,
end since everything is so complimentary, I am wondering if you know
any reason why he has remained in high school work so long. In other
words, is there some weakness in this man that accounts for the fact

thet he has not accepted a college or university job sooner, You
it's always easy to get veople to tell good things about another,

we find it rather difficult under these conditions to find out any

of the bad things about a fellow. I will appreciate it greatly,

therefore, if you ‘mow any handicans or weaknesses that this man has

and if you will tell me about them.

I appreciate very much your very fine letter and all
the trouble you went to to write me about these boys, and I hate t
bother you further, but I do want to be sure of our ground in this
matter and if you can give me any added information about Parkins
I will :surely appreciate it.
