I should sincerely welcome an opportunity to work some
basketball games on your schedule; if not this year,
maybe next.

The Big Six has honored me with assignments before, at
Norman, but Oklahoma fans and sports writers did not turn
nip ups over my work. However, I wouldn't blink an eye
to please them and Bruce wouldn't want me to.

That should not preclude my working in other field houses
in the Conference.

I respectfully urge you to discuss my qualifications with
Bruce Drake and George Edwards for whom I worked two
successive seasons. Altho' I have no idea what these two
gentlemen think of my work I have complete confidence that
they will "lay it on the line" just as it is and that's
all I can ask for.

Possibly you could find a place for me on your pre-season
schedule. Enclosed is a copy of my schedule as of this date.

I shall look forward to seeing you at the Kansas City
meeting.

Dear Dr. Allens:

The Northern Division of the Pacific Coast Conference has asked me to

make a study of the fees paid to basketball officials for regular con-
ference games. We wish to determine if our fees are in line with those
of other conferences in the nation.

Would it be possible for you to outline for us your conference schedule
of fees, and give us a break-down on how you arrive at the gross amount
if a flat fee is not paid?

For your information, and as a guide to our request, our fees are de-
termined upon the following basis:

Geme fee $2000

First class train or bus fare

Per day expenses BH e00

Per day time lost = school group 10.00 = not included )
=o " = non-school group 7.00 (six day basis)

("time lost" is to compensate those men who must be away from
regular jobs and are necessarily docked. They are paid regard-
less of whether they are actually docked. )

I wish to submit this report to our next meeting in June, and will con-
sider it a special favor if you can provide me with this information, or
place this communication in the hands of anyone who might do it for youe

The coaches have listed the first ten officials of their choice,
and Peters selected the officials from this list. Nevertheless, { am sure

next year it will be necessary for the coaches of the Big Six to include you
' in the first ten, so, i would suggest you contact the other coaches and

Gentlemen:

Mr. W. H. McPhee of Spokane, Washington was transferred

to Kansas City in March and will be here permanently.

He is a graduate of Washington State College and was fast
becoming one of their better officials in the Northern
divison of the Pacific Coast Conference. Coach Jack Friel
of Washington State recommended him very highly. I re-
ceived a letter recently from Coach #dmonson of the Uni-
versity of Washington voicing his high prise of Mr. McPhee
as an official.

Coaches Drake, Gardner and Lewandowski met him at the NCAA
finals and already havehim in some of their non-conference
games.

If you would care to have him work in some of your non-
conference games won't you please so advise me.
