This will also acknowledge your letter of Jue 15, in which you say you will follow up with Dan Partner the matter of getting the write-ups into the Guide for the Western playeoff and the final game. I am writing to Tower, telling him you will follow through on this. I have already sent into him all the other material about the Tournament. The only thing that remains now is to get Partner to send in these two write-ups and then it will be complete. This will also acknowledge your letter of June 24, regarding the three basketballs which are still to be sent to Southern California. I will write HerffJones about this matter at once. By the way, I had a talk with Jolm Griffith at the time of the Big Ten Pacific Coast meet and he tells me they are planning to have an Executive Committee meeting in Chicago along in August sometime and he hoped you and I could arrange to be present at that time. I suppose they will want it about the time of the AlleStar game. Dear Doctor Allen: I guess I have been a little tardy in writing you occasion- ally to set you right on the various problems of the conntry but must blame it to general busy=ness which I guess occupies the time ef everyone who tries to get along without government interfer- ence. I would like to talk war, economics and othe? stuff but can't now so will take up the object of this writinge Wonder if you are available for addresses for school gatherings on afternoons, particularly the aftérnoon of Saturday , October the I4th at the high school at Osborne, On that date we will have the first fall meeting of the Osborne County teachers and the Osbonne County School Board asso- ciation. We want a speaker for the aféernoon at perhaps two-thirty.e We d not have any hefty sum for the address but could take care of all expenses I judge. To bé frank, I imagine that $15. or $20, would be the top we could go. I thot you might happen out this way somewhere that same day or night before and maybe stop with us and be able to get away and back to Lawrence that evening. tI am President the County School Board Association and the Co. C. Allen, Lawrence, Kansas, Dear Yr, Allen: I talked to the Co. Suvt., Frank Paschal, at osborne, and he said he had written you some details as to the Saturday of this week, Oct. [4th, meeting at Osborne, As to your speech: You will be addressing a group of teachers of the county--city high teachers and Superintendents, city grade teachers, country teachers and also school board mem-= bers and then some of the public at large. Think your address should be something along the inspirational line. Since your are a physical education expert, likely you can bring in quite a god deal of that or what it means to school students. Then there is always the war that might be touched on and communism is a timely topic, it seems. In view of the fact that some claim it is in our schools and maybe at KU, I guess it would nd be out of place to mention it. I think some of your game storiés would fit in well; that is some that I ahve heard you mention. I am sending this, Allen, not to dictate to you, but to sugge st what you might care to know, If Paschal suggested something, that will be okay. By the way the dinner is about noon at Osborne Hi and you can arrive there some time before noon, or as early as you wish and look up Paschal at courthouse or Supt. I am especially interested in knowing if their elegibility rules are sanctioned by the A.A.U., if the organization is being opposed by the A.A.U., and in general what the attitude of the A.A.U. is toward the American Basketball Congress. It is my understanding that this organization has grown out.of the group known last year as the American Federation of Basketball, which held a national tourna- ment in Atlanta, Georgia; managed by J.
