UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI COLUMBIA February 18, 1946 DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION oN members to do the job. Dr. Forrest C. Allen University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear "Doc" Allen: A tentative building program is now under considera- tion at the University of Missouri. Preliminary discussion indicates the possibility of an encroachment of dormitories and other buildings on some areas hitherto used by physical education and athletics. Should this actually occur, the activities of these departments will be pushed farther from the geographic center of student instruction on the campus. Our required program for all freshman and sophomore men makes this possibility seem highly undesirable, from our departmental point of view. Dr. Hindman, director of physical education at the University of Missouri, is preparing some recommendations to present to the University Planning Committee. He feels that his recommendations will carry more weight if he can cite some facts relative to thé facilities and programs of some of our neighbors. I have been asked to solicit such information from a number of such sources. I hope you will oblige me by supply- ing the information you think pertinent. If you are too busy winning another Big Six Basketball Championship to attend to this personally, will you kindly ask one of your staff 4 The inclosed sheet is a hasty and crude attempt to indicate the nature of the "dope" we should like to have. Any additional items, however, may be added at your discretinon. Your cooperation in this matter will be greatly appreciated. My best personal regards to you, and continued success to your teams. (within reason, at least) Sincerely yours, Herbert Bunker Aaet. Prof. of 2. Bs;
