You, as a dommittee, are responsible for determining the outstanding NuCeA-?. team in your district. Please follow the records of teams in your district carefully and make your selection at the earliest possible moment. If a play-off is necessary (in your judgment) your committee is authorized to mr... it off, thet is, make all arrangements for the place to play the eliminati™.. select officials, etc. = on the following basis, 20% of net profit to go tc the NeC-AsAe3 80% of net profit to be divided among competing teams (40% te each team if two are concerned, 20% to each team if four are in the elimina tions, ote.) The N.C.A.A. is not in a position to guarantee such elimina=« tions within any given district, but any eliminations that are held should very easily "pay out" if properly handled. II. The teams finally selected to represent the eight districts will be brough: to the Eastern and Western playsoffs, March 22 and 23 on the following basi:: Complete nocessary travelling expenses (railroad fare, pullman and meals) ava local entertainment (hotols and moals) for a total party of twelve (12). WESTERN PLAYOFF (teams representing districts 5, 6, 7 and 8) will be held in the Municipal Auditorium at Kansas City on March 22 and 23, 1940. Championship will be held in the Municipal Audit ox Tum, Kansas City, March 30, 1940. Managor, Dr. F. C. Allon, University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansase Dr. Allon is doing a splendid job organizing both the Western playsoff and the final game, as woll as providing an ynusual pro. gram of ontertainment for those who come to Kansas City, oither for the pl. offs, the coaches moeting, or the Rules Committee mocting. Kansas City wil. be the basketball centor of America in the latter part of March. Everybody who is intorested in basketball should come to Kansas City at that timo, if possible. NAISMITH MEMORIAL TROPHY. The National Association of Basketball Coaches havo “Gonated o splondid trophy which will be known as tho Naismith Momorial Trophy. This will be presented to the winner of the Championship and will be retained by thom permanently. The coaghes havo agreed to present this trophy annually. This memorial trophy, by the way, is the only trophy officially approved and authorized by tho family of Dr. Naismith.
