. February 1, 1946 Lt. Ed Js Ellis Cabaniss Field Corpus Christi, Texas Dear Lt, Eddy: I want to thank you for your interest end your letter that you have written me, I appreciate it very much, I assure yous ; Beg I am very much interested in Lem Jones. My — secretary, Mrs, Bud French, is the wife of Bud French, a Central High School star of former days, They knew Lem through Clarence MeGuire's, who was Lem's Sunday School teacher. Mac, as we call Clarence McGuire, played on ovr varsity teams here at Kansas and is a fine influence with young men, I have just received a letter from Lem, doubtless due to your kind words. I am writing’ him today and I want you to know thet I appreciate all the things that you have done for us here at Kee \ Owen Peck is still the same fine chap that he always was and Johnny Kanas is coming along fine, He was a little excitable at first but is in about the same position as Owen Peck was a year ago. Next year Johnny will be right in there. He is fine, clean, intelli- gent, and a scrapper. Doubtless you have read about George Sauer being appointed football coach, Those people who have expressed an opinion look hopefully toward his bringing Kensas’to a higher plane than it has achieved here before. I agree with you that our football situation could be improved, It would help all of our high schools in Kansas. I will certainly be glad to see you when you are out in Junee Here's wishing you continued success which you have enjoyed the past several years. With all good wishes, I am ~ Sincerely yours, te Director of Physical Education, FCAsMF Varsity Basketball Coach,
