Che Hirst Hilothodiet Church —_——_——" The Laymen's Church’’ THOMAS ALFRED WILLIAMS, Minister 330 NORTH BROADWAY . TELEPHONE 3-8105 | = Wichita 2, Kansas a A /) October 8, 1945 Dr. Forrest C. Allen Kansas University Lawrence, Kansas ¢ Dear Dr. Allen: This is to express my personal appreciation for your address to the Methodist men and boys at Salina. I heard many fine remarks of appreciation for the thoughts you gave us. I was very sorry I could not talk to you a minute afterwards and convey my thanks, but another meeting was coming up, and I had to go to it. I'm sure the same was true for many of the other ministers. Annual Conference always. keeps us hurrying from one meeting to another. Changing the subject, I would like to bring to your attention a boy who is now enrolled in K. U. His name is Milford Pritchard. Milford was a lieutenant in the air forces, a bombardier, and made his missions from Italy over Germany. He received his discharge last summer. I think he is around 27 years of age. He went to school with the idea that he was too old to go out for athletics or mix’ much in the social life of the school. He is a fine athlete, having played on major teams, both baseball and basketball, here in the city before going into the service, I think a word of encouragement from you about going out for basketball would help. I appreciate how busy you are, and do not want you to go to any trouble, but 4f you have opportunity to speak to him, I would eens it greatly. Best wishes to you in your work, and good buck tortne the coming season. = sincerely, Clarence ee ee Borger, Assoc, Pastor. ite ae i ea re aha der gia ay ea
