Training In PHYSICAL EDUCATION at the University of Kansas Graduates of the Department of Physical Ed- ucation of the University of Kansas receive the degree of Bachelor of Science in Education. They are required to meet the same scholastic standards that are maintained in other de- partments of the School of Education and in addition their programs of study must involve the following items: 1. A sound foundation in science including biology, physiology, human anatomy, kinesiology and hy- giene. 2. Special preparation for the supervision of health and physical training of children. 3. Knowledge of the best recent theory and prac- tice in teaching. 4. Broad experience in practice teaching including teaching in ‘the elementary and junior high schools and coaching and teaching in the senior high school. 5. Special courses in the techniques of coaching the various major sports and other physical education activities. 6. Personal participation in the major sports, rec- reational activities, games and aquatics.
