May 6th, 1941 Dear Doctor Allen: Ves y Ata 7 This letter includes a few items that you i 40 h, will probably want for your information for next Eo 7 a yeare 2 we . May 1 recommend for the fencing classes, the 4/| following two boys: William Belt, a graduate student 4 in Spanish. (I have already spoken to him and he } indicated that if he does return he will probably be a4 in the Spanish Department), and Haven Glassmire , who Av py has been assisting me with the fencing classes... This 41 semester he is an engineering student, and will be back i next year. He has spoken to me about the possibility of majoring in Phy. Ed. I am suggesting both of these boys as the only individuals capable of handling fencing classes for the department. Concerning the swimming pool, I am listing the names of some boys who have at this time passed and have received their instructor's certificate from the Red Cross. They are: Robert Stevens, freshman, and the other boy.is Gene Nelson, a senior engineer, next year. If these two boys Bre not available, may I suggest the ~ames of Dick Epps, a senior Red Cross man, ; and Gene Mahoney, who has an instructor's certificate. if there are any other questions or problems that you would like to discuss with me before I leave, 1 would be glad to make such arrangements to see you.
