Blien Ruth Hoover Jane Byrn Dear friends: It occurs to me it might be well to leave a word with all of you regarding the status of Tau Sigma for the future. Last year I requested that Dr. Allen include the dance group on the departmental budget for 450. Thus far it has not been necessary to call on this amount but I did want to call it to your attention before leaving. I doubt, too, if anyone realizes that the large drum, the gong, and the small drum, the large picture in the front office and all the dance magazines are the property of Tau Sigma. The instruments were paid for directly out of its treasury, and either made or purchased by me. Needless to say their use has been largely departmental. If it continues to be possible that Tau Sigma can be subsidized in part by departmental funds, I feel it is fair and right that this property should auto- matically belong to the department. If, however, such does not obtain, then in all fairness Tau Sigma should be reim- bursed a reasonable amount for these items. They would easily be worth $50 to $75. I trust the whole matter will take care of itself, but thought for the sake of everyone concern- ed it might be well to have this statement from me. Aileen Members of Staff University of Kansas Dear Dr. Allen: With my life jumping in hectic spasms of finishing school work, finishing packing and socializing, I have given up trying to write each member of the department a personal "thank you" for my perfectly marvelous wedding gift. So, I am asking if you will see that each of them knows that I have written you. It's when one trys to express thanks that he realizes how hopelessly futile language is. But I have observed to myself several times during the last weeks that the nicest thing about leaving is the discovery that friends and colleagues care enough to do the nice things they have for me. Each tribute touches me and’ never fails to evoke a humility that is deeply grateful for the warmth that makes friends what they are. So I want each member of the group who remembered me with the tea service to know that this gesture meant far more to me than a present, and now I'll hope that I can have the pleasure of entertaining all of you during your World's Fair visit. With my good wishes and personal ap- preciation to each of you, Sincerely yours, Led whel A @C EDM: IW Sie. dace oe = ' : SE ae Sea Se ee eae a ee ee RES er sigan Rene Re ge ea NOT cee eT ee f . 7 ji a a ¥ Seaae ts oi “§ Tae RSS ee Nok Bigeye eae See ee oe = a y - ¢ Ry fe DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION FEES == 1937-38 Fall Semester No. of Course Name Hours Credit Fees 51M Phy » Ed, 2 hrs. #eeco + $1.00 Dep. oLlW Phys. id, 2 hrs. 222d Sow Phys. However, Dre MacCurdy and I expect to be married during the Christmas holidays since ‘that is the only time which gives him enough vacation to make the trip out here so we can be married at my family's home in Topekte That, of course, means that I will stay on here after the holidays until all my work for this semester is donee I trust I shall not be unwelcome during that month as a “Mrse" instead of a "Miss" - and I would appreciate your letting me know if such arrangement is administratively acceptable. I should like you to know, too, what a pleasure and inspiration it has been to work under the guidance you have given the Department of Physical Education since its reorgenizatione There are idealists who have visions, but can't realize them; and there are practical robots who can work them- selves to the bone, but lack the imagination to make their pro- ductivity meaningful achievement; but it is the rare soul who can have his visions and algo translate them into reality.
